A RUSSIAN general has been killed in a car bombing attack in Moscow
On Monday, December 22, 2025, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bombing in southern Moscow.
Incident Details
The Victim: Sarvarov, 56, was the head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff. He was a decorated officer who had served in Chechnya and Syria.
The Attack: An explosive device detonated under his white vehicle—identified as a Kia Sorento—at approximately 7:00 a.m. Moscow time on Yasenevaya Street. Sarvarov succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Investigation: Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a murder investigation. Officials are currently probing the theory that the attack was orchestrated by Ukrainian special services.
Response: Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that President Vladimir Putin was informed immediately. As of the time of reporting, Ukraine has not officially commented on the incident.
