A regional state of emergency was introduced in the occupied Crimea. The reason was a fuel oil spill in the Black Sea, according to the Russian media.

The corresponding decree was issued by the Governor of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov. The territory of the Kerch district and Leninsky district of Crimea are in an emergency zone.

On December 25, a regional emergency was introduced in Krasnodar Kradue to a fuel oil spill during a tanker accident in the Kerch Strait. The next day, a federal emergency was declared in the region.

Tanker accident in the Black Sea

On December 15, two Russian tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, crashed in the Kerch Strait in a severe storm.

On December 17, another tanker was involved in an accident near the Kavkaz port in the Black Sea. Fuel oil leaked into the Black Sea and polluted the coast of Krasnodar Krai.

A spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy explained that the Russian tankers sank because they went to sea without complying with the requirements of navigation. Satellite images showed fuel oil contaminated beaches in Russia.
