A conspiracy theory documented by the Anti-Defamation League, Thom Burnett and others is that the state of Israel was involved in the attacks, and may have planned them. A variety of motives are suggested, including: to cause the United States to attack enemies of Israel; to divert public attention away from Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians; to help Zionists take control of world affairs; and to persuade Americans to support Israel. Variants of the theory contend that the attack was organized by then-Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, the intelligence agency Mossad, or other actors from the Israeli government.[149][150] According to Slate, Kevin Barrett, a former lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, is a “leading advocate of theories that Israel’s Mossad orchestrated the 9/11 attacks.”[151]— Michael Novakhov (@mikenov) Nov 2, 2026

Others – who reject the accepted account of the September 11 attacks but are not proposing specific theories, but try to demonstrate that the U.S. government’s account of the events is wrong. This, according to them, would lead to a general call for a new official investigation into the events of September 11, 2001. According to Jonathan Kay, managing editor for comment at the Canadian newspaper National Post[63] and author of Among the Truthers: A Journey Through America’s Growing Conspiracist Underground,[64] “They feel their job is to show everybody that the official theory of 9/11 is wrong. And then, when everybody is convinced, then the population will rise up and demand a new investigation with government resources, and that investigation will tell us what actually happened.”— Michael Novakhov (@mikenov) Nov 2, 2026

The colorized historical photograph shows Adolf Hitler standing in the rain at the Wolfsschanze (Wolf’s Lair) railway station in East Prussia on July 20, 1944, to receive Italian dictator Benito Mussolini…
The photo was taken just hours after Hitler narrowly survived the 20 July plot (Operation Valkyrie), an assassination attempt in which a bomb planted by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg detonated during a military briefing. Hitler suffered only minor injuries, including a perforated eardrum and minor burns, and proceeded with his scheduled meeting with Mussolini that afternoon.
. . .
This photograph captures Adolf Hitler shortly after surviving one of the most famous assassination attempts in history, the failed July 20 Plot of 1944. German Army officers led by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg placed a bomb in a conference room at the Wolfsschanze (“Wolf’s Lair”), his heavily guarded field headquarters in East Prussia. The explosion killed four people and injured many others, but Adolf escaped with minor wounds, largely because a thick oak conference table shielded him from the blast.
Hours later, with his right arm bandaged and his trousers torn, H*tler appeared at the station to meet Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator and his longtime ally. The meeting was meant to demonstrate strength and continuity, a calculated act of propaganda designed to show the world, and especially the German people, that Hitler had survived and remained in control.
The failed assassination marked a turning point in Nazi Germany. The conspirators were swiftly arrested, tortured, and executed in gruesome public trials overseen by the People’s Court. The Gestapo then launched an expansive purge of anyone even remotely suspected of disloyalty within the military and government.
The Wolf’s Lair, located in what is now Poland, was one of Adolfs main military headquarters during World War II. It was equipped with bunkers, anti-aircraft defenses, and land mines across nearly 20 square miles of forest, a fortress built for secrecy that nonetheless became the site of one of history’s most daring acts of resistance from within the Nazi regime.
