Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that Russia could use nuclear weapons if Ukraine attacks Belarus, invoking a mutual security treaty between Moscow and Minsk.

In response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s threats to strike Russian drone signal repeaters located on Belarusian territory.

Lavrov stated that Russia will provide full military assistance to its ally Belarus.

He referenced a security treaty  that includes “the entire set of measures” to protect Belarus — explicitly including Article 6, which allows the use of nuclear weapons in response to aggression.

Lavrov accused Zelensky of trying to drag Belarus directly into the conflict to expand the war and complicate peace efforts.
