Mehr als 21 Monate nach Beginn des Angriffskriegs gegen die Ukraine hat sich Russlands Verteidigungsminister Sergej Schoigu zum Wintereinbruch zufrieden mit dem derzeitigen Frontgeschehen gezeigt. «Unsere Soldaten (…) nehmen eine vorteilhaftere Position ein und erweitern die Kontrollzonen in alle Richtungen», sagte Schoigu am Freitag. Auch westliche Waffenlieferungen an die Ukraine könnten die Lage auf dem Schlachtfeld nicht wesentlich verändern, behauptete er.
Russland, das am 24. Februar 2022 ins Nachbarland einmarschiert ist, hat in den vergangenen Monaten immer wieder militärische Niederlagen hinnehmen müssen. Derzeit aber gibt es vermehrt Berichte, dass ukrainische Einheiten vor allem im Osten ihres Landes stark unter dem Druck russischer Angriffe stünden. Zugleich hat die Ukraine im südlichen Gebiet Cherson, das sie in Teilen bereits wieder aus russischer Besatzung befreit hat, kleinere Erfolge zu verzeichnen. Vor einigen Wochen gelang ukrainischen Soldaten dort das Übersetzen auf das besetzte linke Ufer des Flusses Dnipro.
Der ukrainische Generalstab berichtete am Freitag von rund zwei Dutzend russischen Attacken vor allem südlich der Stadt Bachmut im östlichen Donezker Gebiet. Zugleich hieß es, dass ukrainische Einheiten auch zu Gegenangriffen angesetzt hätten. Zudem seien nördlich und südlich von Awdijiwka ebenfalls fast zwei Dutzend russische Angriffe abgewehrt worden. Über Kämpfe wurde auch bei Kupjansk im Gebiet Charkiw und bei den Dörfern Robotyne und Werbowe im Gebiet Saporischschja berichtet.
Im Gebiet Cherson seien die ukrainischen Soldaten weiter auf dem südlichen Ufer des Dnipro präsent. Ukrainische Stellungen im Dorf Krynky seien aus der Luft bombardiert worden. Insgesamt wurden dem Bericht zufolge mehr als 130 ukrainische Ortschaften in acht Gebieten durch russische Artillerie beschossen. Russische Luftangriffe seien in den Gebieten Charkiw, Donezk und Cherson geflogen worden.
