#AI Overview
On July 6, 2026,  #Russia launched a massive, deadly wave of missiles and drones at Kyiv, killing at least 11 people and injuring 60 others. The strikes, which heavily damaged apartment buildings and partially collapsed a high-rise in the Podilskyi district, occurred just days after the deadliest assault on the capital this year. [1, 2]
Key Details:

The Assault: Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia fired hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles nationwide, with Kyiv as the primary target. The attack included 29 ballistic missiles, none of which were intercepted.
Casualties & Damage: At least 11 deaths and 60 injuries were confirmed across the capital. Direct hits shattered multistory residential buildings in the Podilskyi and Darnytsia districts, trapping civilians in the rubble.
The Aftermath: Rescue operations are actively ongoing. Neighboring Poland briefly scrambled fighter jets as a preventive measure.
The Motive: Russia’s Defense Ministry stated the bombardment was retaliation for Ukraine’s recent long-range drone strikes on Russian fuel and energy sites. [1, 7]

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has renewed his appeals to Western allies for additional Patriot air defense systems to thwart incoming ballistic missiles. For further updates and coverage, you can check the AP News or The Guardian reports. [5, 6]
